Resumen de Arquitetura do saber: espaços físicos de colégios privados na corte imperial

In the nineteenth century, the school was forged and legitimized by the government and civil society as the privileged and most appro- priate space to promote schooling. Several types of schools and edu- cational practices emerged from private initiatives and the actions of the Imperial State in the whole country. However, the private mesh of schools located in the Imperial Court has reached more significant statistical indices in terms of the amount of colleges and students. In this sense, knowing and understanding how those experiences are organized and how they work is essential to the field of history of education. Contributing to the task, this study presents and re- flects on some aspects related to “Private education” such as teach- ing freedom, legislation, announcements, and physical structure of school buildings. This investment was feasible through a methodol- ogy that is based on reading and analysis of primary sources, dating from the second half of the nineteenth century: letters, reports, laws and advertisements.

No século XIX a instituição escolar foi forjada e legitimada pelo poder público e pela sociedade civil como o espaço privilegiado, o mais adequado, para se promover a instrução. Diversos tipos de escolas e práticas educativas surgiram a partir de iniciativas de particulares e pelas ações do Estado Imperial em todo país. No entanto, a malha particular de ensino, localizada na Corte Imperial, alcançou índices mais significativos nas estatísticas que contabilizavam números de colégios e alunos. Neste sentido, é imprescindível para o campo da História da Educação conhecer e compreender a organização e o funcionamento daquelas experiências. Contribuindo com a tarefa, este estudo apresenta e reflete acerca de alguns aspectos relacionados ao tema “educação particular”, como liberdade de ensino, dados estatísticos, legislação, anúncios e estrutura física de prédios escolares. A realização do investimento foi possível via operação metodológica que se baseia na leitura e análise de fontes primárias datadas da segunda metade do Oitocentos: ofícios, relatório, legislações e propagandas.
