    Lejos de ser una casualidad, desde el inicio de los tiempos, los humanos han tendido a establecer sus asentamientos en las proximidades de una corriente de agua. Esto no es nada extraño, pues el agua es un elemento imprescindible tanto para nuestra super - vivencia como para la mayoría de las actividades que realizamos. Los ríos, además de agua, también nos han proporcionado una materia prima como la arena que, entre otros usos, ha cumplido un papel fundamental en la construcción de estas poblaciones.

    El presente trabajo trata sobre la labor de los areneros que extraían este material del río Arga y sus afluentes en el área de la Comarca de Pamplona. Analizaremos algunas de las disposiciones y normas que para regular esta actividad se promulgaron; se comentará qué diferentes usos se le daban al producto y, por último, trataremos de recomponer el proceso que se seguía para la consecución del material.

    Far from being a coincidence, since the beginning of time, humans have tended to establish their settlements in the proximity of watercourses. This is not surprising, since water is a must for both our survival and for most of our elementary activities. The rivers, besides water, have also provided us a raw material such as sand, which, among other uses, has played a key role in the construction of these populations. This study deals with the work of the sand gatherers that extracted this material from the Arga River and its tributaries in the area of the Region of Pamplona. We will analyze some of the provisions and rules that were enacted to regulate this activity; different uses the product will be explained and, finally, we will try to reconstruct the process followed to get the material.

    Ez da batere kausalitatea gizakiak, betidanik, bere biziguneak finkatzeko ur korron - teen inguruko eremuetara jo izana.
