    The aim of this article is to analyze the recent evolution of male and female participation in the formal textile industry of the Ceará State, in 2000, 2007 and 2014. Therefore, it outlines the sociodemographic and socioeconomic profile of workers and workers trying to check if there has been progress or setbacks in the insertion in such activity. The Annual Social Information (ASI) of the Ministry of Labour and Employment is the main source of information. The main results show, in the period of analysis, increase in the number of textile industries located in the Ceará State. Regarding the profile of employees, the data show that vacancies are mostly occupied by women (60.48%), aged 30 to 39 years, completed high school to incomplete college, and the men have slightly better qualification regarding women. Moreover, the women remain one to three years in the same job as the men less than a year. With regard to income, there has been concentration of individuals (men and women) earning 1-2 minimum salaries. However, in comparison to the highest income with the level of education, women are worse, even when they have the same education.

    O objetivo desse artigo é analisar a evolução recente da participação feminina e masculina na indústria têxtil formal cearense, nos anos 2000, 2007 e 2014. Para tanto, traça-se o perfil sociodemográfico e socioeconômico das trabalhadoras e dos trabalhadores, procurando verificar se houve avanços ou retrocessos na inserção em tal atividade. A Relação Anual de Informações Sociais (RAIS), do Ministério do Trabalho e do Emprego, é a principal fonte de informações. Os principais resultados apontam, no interim analisado, aumento na quantidade de indústrias têxteis instaladas no Ceará. Quanto ao perfil dos empregados, os dados revelam que as vagas são majoritariamente ocupadas pelo sexo feminino (60,48%), com idade entre 30 a 39 anos, com o ensino médio completo até o superior incompleto, sendo que eles possuem ligeiramente melhor qualificação em relação as mulheres. Ademais, elas permanecem de um a três anos no mesmo emprego, enquanto eles menos de um ano. Quanto aos rendimentos, constata-se concentração de indivíduos (homens e mulheres) ganhando de 1 a 2 salários mínimos. Porém, quando comparado os rendimentos mais elevados com o nível de instrução, as mulheres estão em pior situação, mesmo quando possuem a mesma escolaridade.
