Resumen de Evolución tecnológica del timón de codaste

El timón de codaste es un mecanismo móvil adjunto del navío, enlazado al codaste o prolongación de la quilla mediante un par cinemático de rotación, que aprovechando las corrientes hidrodinámicas generadas en la mar y las corrientes de expulsión que proporcionan las hélices, varia con su movimiento el rumbo del buque. No siendo el único sistema mecánico que realiza esta imprescindible función, sí es el más operativo y de rápida aplicación.El presente artículo, pretende contextualizar su aparición y desarrollo, desde una perspectiva ingenieril, como método de gobierno (del griego κυβερνειν kubernein “pilotar un barco “) de las embarcaciones, partiendo de sus inicios. Seguidamente, se expone su expansión por las diferentes culturas de la época medieval y su evolución tecnológica en el tiempo, hasta llegar a los timones usados en nuestros días. Analizando finalmente, el diseño y funciones de diferentes sistemas de gobiernos usados en la actualidad, así como, aspectos generales de su dinámica.

This article seeks to contextualize their emergence and development from an engineering perspective, as a method of government (Greek κυβερνειν kubernein "piloting a boat") of vessels. Under study since its inception, in addition to the different systems that preceded it. Then, its expansion is exposed by the different cultures of the Middle Ages and its evolution over time, consistent with the technological evolution of engineering, reaching rudders used today. Finally analyzing the design and functions of different systems governments used today and general aspects of its dynamics.
