    Este artigo faz um histórico do movimento agroecológico no Brasil, desde o início das discussões sobre o tema até os anos atuais. Começando com as primeiras indagações sobre os impactos gerados pelos sistemas produtivos vigentes no auge da Revolução Verde, é abordada a forma em que a discussão ganhou volume dentro de algumas organizações sociais, no mundo e no Brasil, inclusive incentivando a criação de outras organizações ambientalistas. Também são relatados alguns trabalhos pioneiros na discussão do movimento ambientalista, como os primeiros relató- rios sobre impactos do uso de agrotóxicos e os efeitos do modelo reducionista de agricultura nas várias esferas agroecológicas. Por fim, apresenta-se um cenário recente do movimento agroecológico no Brasil, que ganhou força com a criação da Associação Brasileira de Agroecologia – ABA e da Articulação Nacional de Agroecologia – ANA, bem como dos investimentos do Governo Federal via políticas públicas de incentivo.

    This paper aims to draft the history of the agroecological movement in Brazil, from the first debates on the subject until the recent years. Starting with the early debates on the impacts generated by agricultural production systems at the height of the Green Revolution, we address the ways in which the issue gained momentum within a few social organizations, leading to the creation of NGOs and other environmental organizations pushing for alternative forms of agriculture. We also report some pioneering work on environmental debate, such as the first reports on pesticide environmental impacts as well as the effects of the reductionist agriculture model on different agroecological dimensions. Finally, we present the recent scenario of agroecological movements in Brazil, which gained momentum with the creation of the National Society of Agroecology - ABA and the National Agroecology Articulation – ANA, and we also discuss Brazilian Federal Government public policies product of the pressure of social movements and that were oriented towards promotion of agroecological principles.
