Resumen de El estudio de los efectores, ¿La vía para descubrir nuevas dianas para fitoterapias antioídios?

  Los oídios son la principal causa de enfermedad en plantas de origen fúngico. Estos patógenos desa- rrollan una estructura especializada en el interior de la célula huésped denominada haustorio. A través de esta estructura establecen una estrecha relación con el hospedador valiéndose de unas pequeñas proteínas secretadas llamadas efectores, para eludir la respuesta de defensa de la planta, modular la fisiología de la célula vegetal y regular la expresión génica. Debido al estilo de vida como biotrofos obligados, el estudio funcional de los efectores requiere de técnicas específicas e indirectas como el silenciamiento génico inducido por el hospedador (HIGS). El objetivo principal de analizar la función de los efectores y su papel en la patogénesis es identificar aquellos con un papel importante en el establecimiento de la enfermedad que puedan resultar dianas interesantes para el desarrollo de nuevos fitosanitarios.

  Powdery mildews are the main cause of disease in plants of fungal origin. These pathogens develop a specialized structure inside the host cell named haustorium. Through this structure, they establish a close relationship with their hosts using small secreted proteins called effectors, to bypass the plant defense responses of the plant, modulate the physiology of the plant cell and regulate gene expression. Due to their lifestyle as obligate biotrophs, the functional study of powdery mildew effectors requires specific and indirect techniques such as host-induced gene silencing (HIGS). The main objective of analyzing the function of effectors and their role in pathogenesis is to identify those with an important role in the establishment of the disease that may be interesting targets for the development of new phytosanitary tools.
