Desde hace ya algún tiempo el Sahel se ha convertido en la llamada nueva frontera sur de Europa. La debilidad de los Estados de la zona y el subdesarrollo económico son algunos de los factores clave que propician la aparición y el asentamiento de organizaciones yihadistas radicales. Estas se entremezclan con redes de delincuencia organizada en complejas relaciones que hacen de esta zona de África una de las más inestables del mundo. El artículo pretende analizar someramente los principales factores que han influido e influyen en que esta zona de África siga siendo uno de los principales focos de amenazas para la seguridad de España y Europa.

For some time the Sahel has become the so-called new southern border of Europe. The weakness of the states of the area and economic underdevelopment are some of the key factors behind the emergence and settlement of radical Jihadi organizations. These are intertwined with networks of organized crime in complex relationships that make this area of Africa one of the most unstable in the world. The article aims to analyze briefly the main factors that have influenced and still influence that this area of Africa remains one of the main sources of threats to the security of Spain and Europe.
