Resumen de SACA: una empresa del INI para la fabricación de maquinaria agrícola, 1939-1972

  Al finalizar la Guerra Civil, los terratenientes andaluces eran conscientes de lo mucho que el nuevo régimen esperaba de la agricultura y de la necesidad que había de aumentar el parque de maquinaria agrícola. Fue así como un importante grupo de ellos decidió promover una gran empresa de maquinaria agrícola, la Sociedad Anónima de Construcciones Agrícolas (SACA), constituida en Sevilla el 29 de diciembre de 1939. Graves errores en el proyecto y dificultades no previstas llevaron a su promotores a pedir ayuda al Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI), que acordó tomar una participación mayoritaria en la empresa, proponiéndose hacer de ella una de las mayores empresas del grupo y de España. Como ocurrió con otros proyectos similares del INI en Andalucía, en menos de veinte años, después de consumir cuantiosos recursos, terminó en un rotundo fracaso.

  Upon the ending of the Spanish Civil War, the Andalusian landowners were aware of the high expectations that the new regime had laid on agriculture and of the need of increasing the agricultural machinery pool. In this context, an important group of them decided to set up an agricultural machinery company, Sociedad Anónima de Construcciones Agrícolas (SACA), founded in Seville on December 29, 1939. Serious flaws in the project and unanticipated diffi-culties led to its promoters to seek help from the Instituto National de Industria (INI), which agreed to take a majority stake in the company, with the ultimate intention of turning it into one of the largest companies in the group and Spain. As with other similar projects fostered by the INI in Andalusia, in less than 20 years, after consuming considerable resources, it end-ed up in a complete failure.
