    POUR UNE SÉMIOLOGIE POLITIQUE DES MONUMENTS AUX MORTS, par YVES HELIAS L'analyse du monument aux morts considéré comme « un système clos qui porte en lui-même son intelligibilité », permet de mettre à jour ses significations politiques intemporelles. Dans cette perspective, il est possible d'établir les trois propositions suivantes : 1. La pérennité idéologique des monuments aux morts est à rechercher au niveau d'un discours implicite des formes. 2. Leur efficacité idéologique est due au traitement symbolique de la mort qui double ce discours. 3. Leur caractère nécessairement politique est imputable au refoulement du pouvoir étatique d'envoyer à la mort qui s'y opère.     FOR A POLITICAL SEMIOLOGY OF WAR MEMORIALS, by YVES HELIAS The analysis of the war memorials, considered as a " closed System including its own intelligibility " is able to reveal its political functions in any historical context. In this outlook, it is possible to establish those three assumptions : l. The persistence of the ideological meanings of the war memorials is to be found in the untold discourse of their forms. 2. Their ideological efficiency results from the symbolical statement of the death which is included in this discourse. 3. Finally, the inevitably political nature of the war memorials is linked to the unconscious and repressed state power of giving death which is enclosed in them.
