    REGIONALISM AND POLITICS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, by JACQUES LERUEZ The polls held in Scotland in 1979, notably the referendum of March 1st and the general election of May 3rd have brought about the abandonment of the devolution plans for the United Kingdom. Moreover the repeal of the Scotland Act 1978 and the electoral defeat of the Scottish National Party to the benefit of the " British " parties can be read as a partial reintegration of Scottish politics into the general British framework. Does that mean that the nationalist movement has corne to a total failure ? Apparently not, but it cannot be doubted either that the Scottish working-class is still very much attached to the " protection " it receives from the Labour party.     RÉGIONALISME ET POLITIQUE AU ROYAUME-UNI, par JACQUES LERUEZ Les scrutins qui ont eu lieu en Ecosse au cours de l'année 1979, le référendum du 1er mars et les élections générales du 3 mai notamment, ont marqué l'échec des projets de dévolution au Royaume-Uni. L'abandon du Scotland Act 1978 et le recul du parti national SNP au profit des partis « britanniques » signifient en outre la réintégration partielle de la vie politique régionale dans le cadre britannique. Est-ce à dire que le mouvement nationaliste soit définitivement mis en échec ? Il ne le semble pas, mais il n'est pas douteux non plus que la classe ouvrière écossaise reste très fidèle au parti travailliste et très attachée à la « protection » qu'elle en reçoit.
