: El Castillo del Amor fue un asunto iconográfico profano ampliamente desarrollado en las artes figurativas europeas del siglo XIV, consistente en la representación de un castillo, o torre, habitado únicamente por mujeres, las cuales se defienden de los caballeros que intentan sitiar la fortaleza, arrojándoles flores. Creemos que este asunto, difundido a través de su representación en pequeñas placas de marfil, libros miniados y tapices, tuvo además una cierta repercusión en nuestro territorio. Esta relación es posible rastrearla a través del estudio de determinados ejemplos en las artes suntuarias hispanas.

The Castle of Love was a profane iconographic theme widely spread in the fine arts, overall in the 14th century in France. It consists in representing a castle or tower inhabited only by women who are defending their fortress from a siege by throwing flowers to the knights outside the walls. This theme, which spread as a decorative motif in small ivory plates, miniature books or tapestries, had, as well, some influence in our country. Hence, it is possible to follow the trail of this connexion by studying specific examples of Hispanic fine arts.
