El teléfono móvil y los estudiantes universitarios: una aproximación a usos, conductas y percepciones

    La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar el uso del teléfono móvil en jóvenes estudiantes de las carrerras pedagógicas de la Universidad Bernardo O´Higgins. se planteó un estudio cuantitativo con diseño transversal de tipo descriptivo considerando una muestra de estudiantes de corte no probalístico incidental, constituida por 313 sujetos, representando un 65,57% del total de estudiantes de la facultad. Se elaboró un cuestionario que recabó  datos socioeducativos de los estudiantes y  la valoración de diferentes aspectos vinculados al uso del  teléfono móvil. En términos generales, los jóvenes utilizan la mayoría de las herramientas que presentan los teléfonos móviles. Sin embargo las  asociadas a la organización de los tiempos y tareas evidencian un nivel de uso incipiente. Los estudiantes utilizan los telefonos móviles en distintos ámbitos de su vida personal, prevaleciendo sus interconexiones con sus pares a través del texto y en su mayoría lo consideran impresindible. Los estudiantes declaran utilizarlo en su trabajo académico, sin embargo lo reconocen como un potencial distractor ya que los saca del contexto de la clase posicionándolos en redes sociales o en ciber espacio lo que los hace desatender su quehacer académico.

    The following research had as an objective to analyze the use of the mobile phonein young students of the college degree in pedagogy from the Bernardo O'Higgins University.A quantitative study with descriptive cross-sectional design was used considering a notprobabilistic sample constituted by 313 subjects, representing 65.57% of the total students ofthe faculty. A questionnaire was elaborated to collected socio-educational data of the studentsand the different aspects related to the use of the mobile phone. Generally speaking, youngpeople use most of the tools in mobile phones. However, those associated with the organizationof time and tasks show an incipient level of use. Students use their mobile phones in differentareas of their personal lives, prevailing their interconnections with their peers through textand mostly consider it essential. Students declare using it in their academic work, howeverthey recognize it as a potential distractor as it removes them from the context of the class bypositioning them in social networks or in cyber space, which causes them to neglect theiracademic work.
