Una asociación de taxistas demandó a la ciudad de Chicago por autorizar a Uber a prestar servicios de transporte de pasajeros en vehículos automóviles. La Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit confirmó la sentencia recurrida que desestimaba la demanda. En el presente artículo, se reflexiona, desde la perspectiva del ordenamiento español, sobre las dos principales cuestiones que se analizaron: si la autorización de Uber supone la expropiación de las licencias de los taxistas y la justificación de la diferencia de trato. Además, se añaden algunas breves digresiones sobre el futuro del conflicto entre los taxistas y la plataforma colaborativa

A taxi-driver association sued the City of Chicago for authorizing Uber to provide passenger transport services in motor vehicles. The Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit upheld the Judgment under appeal, which had dismissed the action. In this paper, the author reflects, from the perspective of the Spanish legal system, on the two main issues of the case: whether the authorization of Uber implies the expropriation of the taxi' medallions and whether the difference in treatment is justified. The article finishes with so me brief digressions on the future of the conflict between the taxi drivers and the collaborative platform.
