    • Leading lithium producer, FMC Corp. agreed that this is good news for the industry, with the company's vice president and global business director, lithium, Eric Norris, telling IM, "Any commitment by a successful EV automotive producer to add additional [Li]-ion battery capacity obviously bodes well for growth in lithium consumption." FMC's vice president and global business director, lithium, Eric Norris, told IM that since the economic recession, the lithium industry has seen growth in the mid-to-upper single digits per year and FMC believes, "an inflection of growth will occur mid-decade related to vehicle electrification, with Tesla's automobile products being the leading edge of that upswing." Rockwood Holdings Inc. produces lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide from brines near Silver Peak, Nevada, US. In 2012, the company opened a 5,000 tpa battery-grade lithium hydroxide production facility in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, expanding an existing site that produced lithium salts and lithium metal for primary batteries.
