This article focuses on the production of the drug ATryn, comprised of the human protein antithrombin, which inhibits blood clotting, from the milk of transgenic goats. European regulators originally rejected the drug but are now ready to approve it later in 2006, which would make ATryn the first human protein made by a transgenic animal for commercial production. INSET: POULTRY PRESCRIPTION.
