This article reports on the first comprehensive analysis of energy gains and environmental impact of both biodiesel, derived from soybeans, and ethanol, distilled from corn grain. University of Minnesota researchers determined that biodiesel is the better choice because it returns 93% more energy than all the energy people invest in it, compared to the 25% returned by ethanol.
