  • The article reports that Germany is planning to offset the increased carbon emissions that are a side-effect of the one million soccer fans visiting for the 2006 World Cup. The German football association and FIFA will work together to offset the carbon emissions by investing in three programs that work towards converting excess emissions and energy byproducts into fuel. Carbon off-set programs are gaining popularity on a micro- and macroeconomic level. INSET: A WORK IN PROGRESS.
