  • This article discusses the rising prominence of nanotechnology in scientific research. Nanotechnology, focused on controlling the properties of matter, has begun to draw increasingly large amounts of state funding around the world. The author suggests that this field of research will expand in several different ways, including the development of passive nanostructures, active nanostructures, expertise within nanostructure systems, and finally molecular nanostructures.
