  • This article discusses funding grant cuts to New York City in 2006. These cuts are the result of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Council assessment of the city in terms of national monuments and icons, of which none were identified. The author provides a list of monuments and national icons located in New York City, including the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Central Park.
