Resumen de Blocking sound with holes.

Charles Q. Choi

  • This article discusses research, published in the August 22, 2008 issue of "Physical Review Letters," indicating that an object with holes in it can deaden sound more effectively than a solid object. The researchers studied the effect of a perforated aluminum plate on ultrasonic waves traveling through water. When the holes matched the wavelength of the sound they generated interference that modulated the sound waves.
