  • This article discusses research into the development of plastic polymers, sometimes called electrocaloric materials, that become colder when an applied electric field is removed from them. The potential for this technology to improve the performance and reduce the size of circuit boards is assessed. The potential for this technology to work across a broader range of temperatures with a change in the set of materials used is considered.
