This article discusses the development of statistical methods to measure levels of bias in television news reporting. This research, which will be published in "Presidential Studies Quarterly," focuses exclusively on the media's decision whether or not to announce the results of presidential approval ratings. The results of this study, and a similar study of media accounts of the 2008 presidential election, are described.
