  • The article focuses on ways of trapping carbon dioxide (CO2) in the oceans. One method involves increasing the growth of plankton in the ocean by spreading iron across iron-poor ocean regions. Another solution is to make seawater more alkaline by splitting sea salt--sodium chloride--and have it react with seawater to create sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. A third option involves scrubbing CO2 from the air and sequestering it underground.
