  • The article focuses on ideas for halting global warming that utilize geoengineering, or deliberately altering the climate with technology. Ideas fit into two categories: affecting how much sunlight reaches Earth's surface or affecting how much heat escapes into space, which involves carbon dioxide (CO2). However, little research has been done into unpredictable side effects and plans for blocking sunlight, for instance, do not solve the underlying problems.
