  • The article reports that U.S. scientists miscalculated the annual number of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections within the nation. In 2006 the number was significantly higher than anticipated. The author states that African Americans and Hispanic Americans have a disproportionately higher chance of contracting HIV than American whites. Also discussed is news concerning the cancellation of trials for an HIV vaccine.
