  • This article discusses efforts to recreate a species similar to the first cell from which all life evolved. An attempt to recreate the first cell in existence using fatty acids, DNA and nucleotides believed to have existed at the origins of life is described. The next step in formulating this hypothesis about the origins of life, which entails figuring out how these cells reproduce, is noted.
