    • The article reports on research into the sense of taste, focusing on taste enhancer compounds which have been developed to magnify the intensity of food flavors. The idea that the tongue can be divided into regions which each detect one type of flavor is said to be untrue. Flavor enhancers act on taste buds across the tongue which sense all flavors, such as sweet, salty, sour and savory.
