  • The article discusses the benefits of no-till farming in curbing the high rates of soil erosion from tillage due to runoff and wind. The history of soil conservation efforts in the U.S. is reviewed, along with advances in determining soil production rates. Adopting no-till agriculture is described as vastly cheaper than having to replace lost soil.
