The article discusses the functioning of heat shock proteins (HSP) in living cells, and the chance they may be useful in developing innovative therapies and medicines. Produced in response to stress, HSPs attend to other proteins, help ensure amino acids take their proper shape and get where they need to go, and trigger immune responses. Possible use of HSPs in cancer therapies is discussed.
