    La constitució Lumen Gentium del Concili Vaticà II explicità —com abans ja havia fet Sacrosanctum Concilium— que «l’eucaristia és font i cimal de tota la vida cristiana» (LG 11), i amb tota raó el DecretPresbyterorum ordinis va concretar dient que «l’eucaristia se’ns mostra com a font i cimal de totaevangelització» (PO 5). Per això, aquí parlem en primer lloc de l’eucaristia com a cimal de la comuniói missió i, després, de l’eucaristia com a font d’aquestes realitats. Fent-ho així, prenem patró del concilique aquest simposi vol rememorar, a l’ensems que en tornem a proposar les riqueses contingudesper a la comunió i missió de l’Església.

    The Vatican II constitution Lumen Gentium explains —as Sacrosanctum Concilium had done before— that the eucharist “is the fount and apex of the whole Christian life” (LG 11) and the decree Presbyterorum ordinis quite rightly reinforced this in saying that “the eucharist shows itself as the source and the apex of the whole work of preaching the Gospel” (PO 5). In view of this, we speak here firstly of the eucharist as the apex of communion and mission and, secondly, of the eucharist as the source of these realities. In doing this, we take as our model the council that this symposium seeks to celebrate, at the same time as we go on to set out the riches contained within it for Church communion and mission.
