    The author examines the beginning of the Lukanstory of the Presentation of Jesus (Lk. 2.22-24), paying particular attention to the genitive used to qualify the term “purification”: plural (Codex Vaticanus) or masculine singular (Codex Bezae). The singular is considered to be the harder reading which explains the others. It is, thus, not a matter of the purification of the mother, but of the child for the purpose of being presented to the Lord. So there is no question of the child being ransomed, but rather Luke simply relates the presentation of the child who had already been introduced as the first born, the Lord, the Son of God. Accordingly, the ignorance or confusion on Luke’s part concerning Jewish customs that certain scholars claim to detect, disappears when his writing is seen as that of a Jewish rabbi, addressed to the High Priest, Theophilus.

    L’autor examina l’inici del relat lucà de la Presentació de Jesús (Lc 2,22-24), prestant atenció al genitiuque qualifica el terme «purificació»: plural (còdex Vaticà) o masculí singular (còdex de Beza).Considera el singular la lectio difficilior que explica les altres lliçons. No es tracta, doncs, de la purificacióde la mare, sinó d’una purificació de l’infant amb la finalitat de ser presentat al Senyor. Ressaltaque no hi ha rescat de l’infant, sinó simplement presentació d’aquell que ha estat presentat ambanterioritat com el primogènit, el Senyor, el Fill de Déu. El desconeixement o confusió dels costumsjueus que presentaria l’evangelista, segons alguns estudiosos, desapareix quan es considera unescrit d’un rabí jueu, dirigit al gran sacerdot Teòfil.
