  Se muestra como los Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG),sistemas digitales, toman el concepto de ampliación, zoom oacercamiento como sinónimo del concepto de escala. Este error secontinúa al establecer una precisión impropia de la escala 1:5000en: lageorreferenciación, lamétrica y la representación. Enel SIGdeCatastro (SIGCA) y el SIGde las Parcelas Agrícolas (SIGPAC), sepuedellegar a visualizar a pseudoescala* (ampliación) 1:400, dar coorde-nadas UTM y realizar mediciones con precisión de un centímetroen un plano y una ortofotografía de escala 1:5.000. Sin informar dela tolerancia técnica.Para ello se repasan los atributos que incluye el concepto de escala:umbral de visión, precisión, exactitud, incertidumbre, error y tole-rancia técnica.Se adelanta que la barreramás difícil que van a encontrar es de tipopsicológico: el cuestionar lo que se ve en los SIG (ilusión óptica) y elaceptar la incertidumbre (el ser humano no se encuentra cómodocon la incertidumbre). El paso de una metodología analógica y próxima a otra digital (virtual) sin referentes y distante (el monitor y la ortofotografía). El SIGnos libera de la escala, la planimetría,..,todo es intuitivo y fácil, prácticamenteno requiere esfuerzomental, todo se puede hacer desde el monitor sin desplazarse al campo y ade- más con una precisión que no se lograría con el método tradicional analógico.

  It shows how Geographic Information Systems (GIS), digital sys- tems, take the concept of zoom, zoomor approach as synonymous with the concept of scale. It is anticipated that themost difficult barrier theywill encounter is a psychological one: questioningwhat we see in GIS (optical illusion) and accepting uncertainty (the human being is not comfortable with uncertainty). The transition from an analogical methodologyto a digital one (virtual) without referents and distant (the monitorand orthophotography), possible root of the error.
