    Solidarity in Poland is connected to the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union 'Solidarnosc' which was founded in 1980 in order to protect employment rights and which operates until today. It is also identified with a specific type of liability, which is called joint and several liability, and - what is particularly important for the topic presented - with helping one another, co-responsibility as well as co-operation. The last mentioned meaning involves many aspects of the state's and citizens' activity both in legal and non-legal dimensions. In Poland, the term 'solidarity' ("solidarnosc") differs from the concept of solidarism ("solidaryzm"). Solidarity is believed to be a social value founded on the ground of political philosophy which is incorporated to the preamble of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of April 2nd, 1997 as well as in many other acts. Solidarism, on the other hand, is an intellectual concept which intends to provide an answer to the question concerning the place of a man (citizen) in a state as a political community as well as the obligations connected to this relation towards the authority and other members of this community.

    En Pologne, la solidarité est liée au syndicat indépendant et autonome "Solidarnosc" fondé en 1980 afin de protéger les droits à l'emploi et encore actif aujourd'hui. Elle est aussi identifiée avec un type spécifique de responsabilité, appelé la responsabilité solidaire et - ce qui est particulièrement important pour le sujet présenté - avec l'entraide, la coresponsabilité et la coopération. Le dernier sens mentionné implique plusieurs aspects de l'activité de l'Etat et des citoyens, avec des dimensions juridiques ou non. En Pologne, le terme "solidarité" ("solidarnosc") diffère du concept de "solidarisme" ("solidaryzm"). La solidarité est censée être une valeur sociale fondée sur la base d'une philosophie politique qui figure dans le préambule de la Constitution de la République de Pologne du 2 avril 1997 ainsi que dans de nombreuses autres lois. Le "solidarisme", d'un autre côté, est un concept intellectuel destiné à apporter une réponse à la question de la place de l'homme (du citoyen) dans l'Etat en tant que communauté politique ainsi que des obligations liées à cette relation envers l'autorité et les autres membres de la communauté.
