  • The article discusses India's attempts to develop a missile defense shield in response to political instability in neighboring Pakistan. It reports ballistic-missile defense is less effective over short distances and could encourage the attacking country to launch more missiles. The article suggests the policy of mutually-assured destruction is a better way to avoid nuclear holocaust in the region.
