A new technique for controlling the movement and behavior of human cells was presented in the January 2008 issue of "Nature Nanotechnology." The article reports that by attaching particles of iron oxide to molecules and magnetizing them, Donald Ingber at the Harvard Medical School can force cells to group together activating their receptors. The practice opens up new possibilities for introducing drugs into the body or recognizing bacteria and viruses.
