  • This article reports on the expansion of the universe and how that affects the perception of space from Earth. As space around Earth expands, distant galaxies spread out uniformly and get carried away from each other. At the same time, nearby galaxies are pulled closer together. The article reports that, ultimately, Earth will be part of one supergalaxy that is surrounded by an empty void. The article is also accompanied by images illustrating the shifting universe.
