This article reports that researchers think that one of the proteins that is implicated in the onset of Huntingon's disease may offer health benefits. It appears that Huntington's patients are less likely than others to get cancer and they seem to have more children than unaffected siblings. Huntington's is caused by a mutation that lengthens a gene. Scientists think the protein p53 has a role in making the neurons die in these patients and the protein may be responsible for keeping cancer away.
