This article reports an on an experiment to see if jiggling might reduce obesity. For 15 minutes of every day for 15 weeks, mice sat on a buzzing platform that vibrated at 90 times per second. After the treatment the mice had 27 percent less fat than those kept on unmoving platforms and had reduced levels of fatty compounds that are linked to type 2 diabetes. The researchers at Stony Brook University in New York think the vibrations stopped fat cells from forming.
