  • Resumen
    • This article looks at research done in Spain to test the theory that infectious disease can drive evolution. In an experiment, worms were placed in a petri dish with the infectious bacterium Pseudomas aeruginosa. At the end of the week one petri dish of the 152 was crowded with surviving worms who mutated to beat the bacteria. Not only were the mutant worms resistant to the bacteria they learned to feed on them. They also showed different characteristics from the original worms. INSET: Evolutionary Evidence.
