The article analyses the late works of Georgius Cedrenus and Georgius Monachus both commenting on Decius' persecutory edict. The two Byzantine sources tell us about a little known prohibition to veil addressed to Christian women and seem to bring into question what the Christian sources have handed us down about Decius' aim to exterminate the Christians.
