Las relaciones entre Estados Unidos y Arabia Saudí no pasan por su mejor momento debido a la coyuntura actual, en la que una serie de factores geoestratégicos y decisiones políticas han deteriorado la amistad entre la potencia hegemónica mundial y la monarquía de los petrodólares. Además, el reciente informe de la Comisión Nacional sobre los atentados del 11S ha vuelto a poner en entredicho la participación de la inteligencia saudí.
El presente artículo trata de hacer un balance del vínculo creado hace más de setenta años por ambas naciones; un período en el cual se han dado momentos de entendimiento mutuo representados en el esplendor de las relaciones y los acuerdos comerciales. Por otro lado, se han producido importantes diferencias y períodos de crisis que han alterado de alguna forma el panorama mundial. Por último, se tratará de arrojar algunas luces que puedan iluminar el incierto escenario actual de cara al futuro.

Relations between the United States and Saudi Arabian are not at their best moment due to the current situation, where a succession of geostrategic factors and political decisions has deteriorated the friendship between the world hegemonic and the monarchy of petrodollars. In addition, the recent report of the National Commission on the 11S call in question the participation of the Saudi Intelligence.
This article seeks to dissect of the link created more than seventy years ago by both nations, a period in which there have been moments of mutual understanding represented in the brilliance of relations and trade agreements. On the other hand, there have been important differences and periods of crises that somehow have altered the world stage.
Finally, we will try to shed some light that can illuminate the current uncertain scene for the future.
