    El presente estudio ofrece una explicación teórica al fenómeno de la imitación de asesinos, conocido como “copycat”. Se realiza un recorrido sobre este concepto y las características principales de estos asesinos imitadores. Seguidamente, se llega al punto clave de esta investigación, donde se diferencian los distintos tipos de “copycat killers” en base a dos elementos: la motivación que siguen y el tipo de personas a las que imitan. Por último, se incide en los errores que se cometen al denominar a algunos asesinos como imitadores cuando realmente no lo son.

    The present study offers a theoretical explication to the phenomenon of imitation of murderers, known as “copycat”. A trip on this concept and trough the main characteristics of these murderous imitators will be provided. It then reaches the key point of this research, where the reader can find the differences between the different types of “copycat killers” based on two different elements: the motivation they find and the sort of people they imitate. Finally, attention is drawn to the mistakes when calling some murderers as imitators when actually they are not.
