El autor reflexiona, en primera instancia, sobre las éticas aplicadas y nos lleva al mundo del Internet para interrogarse si es una novedad para la ética. De ahí da el paso hacia la argumentación moral y nos dice que debemos pensar moralmente ese campo. En segundo lugar, nos introduce en el verdadero significado del término hacker y su origen. Se pregunta si el fenómeno es una nueva utopía o simple delincuencia. También nos diferencia al hacker de otras denominaciones cercanas como los crackers, los phreakers y los lamers. Intenta aproximarnos sociológicamente al fenómeno para reivindicar el sentido original del hacker como aquella persona fascinada por el conocimiento y la libertad de compartirlo.

The author reflects, firstly, on applied ethics and brings us to the world of the Internet and examine whether the Internet is new for ethics. From there the step towards moral argument and tells us to think morally that field. Second, it introduces us to the true meaning of the term hacker and origin. He wonders if the phenomenon is a new utopia or simple crime. It also differentiates us from other denominations hacker nearby as crackers, phreaks and the lame. Try a sociological approach to the phenomenon to vindicate the original meaning of the hacker as a person fascinated by knowledge and freedom to share.
