D.1. 133/2014, and 1. 164/2014, deal with some of the major issues raised by rent to buy contracts. But not with all of them. Therefore, the roman law of the rent o a purchaser is of material interest for analyzing some of the issues that hasn't been dealt with. Specifically, D. 19.2.21 (Iav. 11 epist.) raises the problem of an advanced full payment and, apart from the solution it provides, shows us a contingency the parties should nowadays take care of in drafting the contract.
