Resumen de Giacomo Cappellin: gli anni parigini

Cristina Beltrami

  • Giacomo Cappellin: the Paris years.

In 1931 Giacomo Cappellin left Murano and moved to Paris, a step anticipated by personal contacts and commercial relations cultivated since 1924, when his name appears in the registers of the designer Jean Luce.

After having separated from Paolo Venini, his historic partner, Cappellin initiated a partnership with renowned French decorators and artists -Maurice Dufrène, Marcel Goupy, Andrèe Laroche-Garrus, Lucie Renaudot and Marcel Temporal- becoming a bridge between the French capital and the glassworks of Murano.

At the same time he made use of his artistic-historic skills as an art dealer and finally set up his own workshop specialising in lampwork: Cappellin & Cie made some perfume bottles for well-known companies -Elisabeth Arden and Elsa Schiaparelli "in primis"- along with various kinds of "verre d'art".
