Resumen de Hermann Struck (1876-1944). Vita, opere e contatti con l'Italia di un incisore e litografo ebreo-tedesco

Paolo Bolpagni

  • Hermann Struck (1876-1944). Life, works and contacts with Italy of a German-Jewish engraver and printer.

The essay focuses on an analysis of the work and biography of Hermann Struck, who was one of the great engravers and lithographers of his age, but who was later gradually almost forgotten. His rediscovery has been taken place for only a few years; the scientific literature about his is still rahter limited. This does not do justice to the fame and importance enjoyed by this engraver: Struck indeed was widely known and apprecited in Europe and America, especially in the first three decades of the twentieth century. The essay, also based on documentary and unpublished archival sources, among other things sheds light on the relations Struck had with Italy at the level of contacts, exhibitions and the themes of his production.
