    Intestine dissensions have torn apart the Central African Republic for 20 years. Without denying the outside implications, this article underlines the factors which, peculiar to the neo-patrimonial character of this State, bring exclusion and violence. The confusion between the exercise of power and personal economic considerations turned the control of the State resources, to number of national actors indeed, into one of the main stakes in the political commitment. This neo-patrimonialism, with which are connected the instrumentalization of the ethnicity but also the use of nepotism and clientelism as the criteria of distribution of the coveted resources, so contributes to enlighten the violence in Central Africa Republic.

    Des dissensions intestines déchirent la République centrafricaine depuis vingt ans. Sans en nier les implications extérieures, cet article souligne les facteurs qui, propres au caractère néo-patrimonial de cet État, sont porteurs d’exclusion et de violences. La confusion entre l’exercice du pouvoir et des considérations économiques personnelles a fait du contrôle des ressources de l’État, chez nombre d’acteurs nationaux en effet, l’un des principaux enjeux de l’engagement politique. Ce néo-patrimonialisme, auquel se rattachent l’instrumentalisation de l’ethnicité mais aussi l’utilisation du népotisme et du clientélisme comme critères de distribution des ressources convoitées, concourt ainsi à éclairer les violences en Centrafrique.
