  In the context of the hazards due to the recurrent depletions of the stratospheric ozone layer, this paper recalls some general knowledge of solar radiation, its propagation in the atmosphere and the special properties of its ultraviolet component. Then it presents the current system for warning the French public of the possible hazards coming from ultraviolet radiation.

  Dans le contexte des risques liés aux affaiblissements récurrents de la couche d'ozone stratosphérique, on rappelle ici un certain nombre de connaissances générales sur le rayonnement solaire, sa propagation dans l'atmosphère et les particularités du comportement de sa composante ultraviolette. On présente ensuite le dispositif actuel d'information du public français sur les risques liés au rayonnement ultraviolet.
