  • Resumen
    • The Roman Campagna in a geographical fresco of 1629. Study on a geographical picture of the Roman Campagna, painted in fresco and designed by Ivan Tomko Marnavich, a most learned Bosniac prelate. Contrarily to the universal opinion, the Author's family name is Marnavich and not Tomko, which is the diminutive of Christian name Tomislav. The research proves that the cartographical material, of wich Marnavich made use, is previous to 1661. The central part of Marnavich's Agri Romani (description), from an unknown source, shows traces of Eurofrosino della Volpaja's map, though with remarkable modifications, that make it more exact. The peripheric parts, on the contrary, follow Mercator. This geographical fresco is certainly better than the preceding maps, and it was surpassed only when Mattei's and Cingolani's maps come out (1674 and 1692)
