  • Resumen
    • In this study we present a comparison of investment and production per head in 21 areas of the World, and we find that in many poor areas there has been little improvement during the period 2000-2010. One of the main causes of this disappointing result has been the stagnation in many countries, of investment and production per capita during this decade. We present a comparison of the levels of industrial development in those areas, and we find that they are too much low in many countries. We analyze the evolution of investment and savings in 132 countries of America, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, and we notice that it is important to foster international cooperation in order to avoid the negative consequences of low levels of investment and production per head on poverty. We include some econometric models relating investment, manufacturing and economic development with a sample of 132 countries.
